When I was a kid we spent our winter breaks in Marco Island Florida. One of our favorite breakfast/lunch places was "The Snook Inn", a favorite by locals who would pull up in their boats for a bite. We would sit and watch the pelicans try to land on the pilings, usually crashing into them several times before making a successful landing. Better than any reality show. This pelican reminds me of that time and while its obvious use is a planter, I would use it on a summer buffet to hold rolled flatware in napkins tied with string.
