Ship Door Knocker

Many of the remarkable houses sprinkled thrughout the coast of New England were once homes of sea captains.  These stately homes are often crowned with a widows walk and adorned with a plaque displaying the homes birthdate, usually dating back to the 1600's.  This door knocker reminds me of this time in the history that sourounds me as a type.
