The Sand Jar

On the bottom shelf of our livingroom coffee table is a collection of apothecary jars filled with sand from most of the beaches we have visited over the last thirty years.  With just a glance, I am transported back to the beach in Harwich Port where we were married, to Hawaii, Carmel California, Nantucket and South Beach.  It is one of my many favorite things.  Each jar is labeled with a basic manila tag, and I wish I had thought to include the date....oh well.

This jar is topped off with cork, and its' wide mouth makes for easy filling and emptying.  If not filled with sand from your favorite beaches, it is the perfect vessel for cotton balls and bath salts in the bathroom or sea salt in the kitchen.
